HOYA ONDOL History
The Hoya Ondol is a modernized version of the traditional Korean underfloor heating system, Ondol. Ondol has roots dating back to the Bronze Age and developed during the Three Kingdoms of Korea (57 BC-668 AD). The original Ondol system used wood for heat generation, but modern systems use hot-water pipes embedded in the floor.
The Hoya Ondol, jointly developed by Hoya HomeTech and the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), is a more durable and thermal efficient underfloor heating system. These panels are several times lighter than the wet method, making them suitable for use in weaker or historic buildings.
